About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced EHS Manager to join our team at Aecon Group, Inc. in Washington State. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of our health and safety program at the project level and promoting a safety culture on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with operations to ensure work is completed according to safe work procedures and implement Aecon's safety program at all levels of the project.
  • Provide site-specific safety training and orientations to ensure all personnel are aware of and understand their roles and responsibilities in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Develop and train supervisors and staff on Aecon's Health and Safety programs to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely.
  • Review project plans and work sites to identify safety-related risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to evaluate ongoing work conditions and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards.
  • Liaise with external parties such as government inspectors, subcontractors, and the general public to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Work with project management teams and field workers to implement and devise solutions to safety-related issues on the project site.
  • Develop and implement emergency procedures and ensure that all personnel are aware of and understand their roles and responsibilities in responding to emergencies.
  • Investigate incidents to identify causes and develop corrective/preventive action plans to prevent future incidents.
  • Represent the project at meetings with stakeholders and other organizations on issues related to workplace health and safety.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports and ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing health and safety for heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Construction projects with a solid understanding of OH&S legislation and regulations.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification preferred.
  • Background in Training and/or Education and/or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups.
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent meeting and training facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate personnel.
  • Understanding of disability management and return-to-work programs.
  • Adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with various project stakeholders from subcontractors, clients, the workforce, and project leadership.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
