Position Summary
We are currently seeking a Benefits Administrator to enhance our People & Culture team. This role is pivotal in managing both individual and group benefit programs across the U.S. and Canada, which encompass health, dental, vision, life insurance, ancillary benefits, business travel accident coverage, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, and retirement plans. The Benefits Administrator will deliver exceptional service to employees and play a key role in designing competitive benefits packages to attract and retain high-caliber talent.
This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring two days of onsite presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the administration of all benefit programs in the U.S. and Canada, including Health & Welfare and retirement plans.
- Facilitate employee education regarding benefits during onboarding and throughout the year, assisting with understanding the available offerings.
- Serve as the primary contact for employee inquiries related to benefits, collaborating with payroll and senior management for issue resolution.
- Address escalations from Human Resource Business Partners and other staff members.
- Ensure confidentiality of employee benefit information.
- Participate in the planning of benefits for the upcoming year.
- Conduct meetings and prepare written materials to explain employee benefits, addressing requests for information.
- Lead the annual benefits open enrollment process, including system testing and the development of communication materials.
- Execute internal audits related to the annual benefits open enrollment.
- Create and manage communication campaigns and notifications regarding benefit programs for employees and stakeholders.
- Develop clear and engaging content for employee communications that reflects the company culture, including monthly updates on benefits.
- Collaborate with benefits vendors across the U.S. and Canada.
- Support ongoing Benefits and HR initiatives and projects.
- Assist in creating tools to improve understanding of the benefits package, including materials for new hire orientation and open enrollment.
- Conduct benefits surveys.
- Research and respond to internal and external inquiries regarding benefits and eligibility.
- Perform audits throughout the year to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations and trends in benefits, focusing on product development and support.
- Provide backup support to the Associate Benefits Administrator as needed.
- Carry out additional work-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field.
- A minimum of three years of experience in employee benefits administration.
- Comprehensive understanding of various benefit plans, including retirement, health, dental, and vision insurance.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with word processing, databases, and spreadsheets (e.g., MS Office).
- Strong data recording and analysis capabilities.
- Ability to manage a high volume of work efficiently.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Highly organized and thorough, with a commitment to quality.
- Capacity to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Preferred:
- Experience with Workday benefits administration.
Working Relationships
Internal Partners:
- Collaborate with all levels of the organization.
- Work closely with payroll, accounting, People & Culture, and communication teams.
External Partners:
- Engage with benefits vendors.
Work Environment
The role does not require strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files may be necessary. Approximately 30% of the time will be spent in meetings or collaborating with the team, while 70% will involve desk work on a computer, performing analytical tasks. Minimal travel is expected, which may include air and automobile travel, as well as overnight stays.
Salary Information
The salary range for this position reflects a variety of factors, including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geographic location, and candidate abilities, as well as internal equity and market alignment. At Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, it is uncommon for individuals to be hired at or near the top of the salary range for their role, as compensation decisions are based on the specific circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $85,000. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick leave), and paid holidays. All benefits are non-contractual and may be amended, terminated, or enhanced at the company's discretion.
