Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Formation Communities at Emory University. This is a key leadership role that will provide strategic direction and program administration for the Candlers Formation Communities program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Management: Develop and implement programs that support the goals and mission of the Formation Communities program, including strategic planning, program evaluation, and budget management.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Provide leadership and guidance to the formation community rectors, house chaplains, and student participants, and collaborate with faculty, staff, and students at Candler and Emory to foster growth, engagement, and support within the formation communities.
  • Financial Management: Manage the program budget, process financial reimbursements, and facilitate the hiring and payment of house chaplains and rectors.
  • Administrative Coordination: Coordinate and communicate with all formation community rectors, house chaplains, and student participants, and develop promotional materials, newsletters, and annual reports.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program(s) and five years of program-related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership skills, ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty at all levels, and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Master's degree in a theological-related field.
  • Skills: Formal theological training, experience with residential intentional community, and ability to initiate projects and creative proposals as a self-starter who values and seeks collaboration.
