Position: Project Controls Specialist

Overview:

This position is centered around the planning and scheduling of a new industrial construction initiative, with a focus on monitoring financial aspects and providing accurate estimates. The role operates with a high degree of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule Creation and Evaluation: Develop and assess schedules for contract segments to predict construction tasks, while identifying possible safety issues and scheduling conflicts.
  • Ongoing Schedule Management: Consistently refresh schedules by collecting data from meetings, construction coordination discussions, and site inspections.
  • Productivity and Value Assessment: Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of project productivity metrics and earned value analysis.
  • Change Control Management: Oversee the change notice and order system, leading weekly hearings and committee meetings related to changes.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage and reconcile the financial tracking system, which includes commitments, change orders, contractor payments, and financial reports.
  • Progressive Scheduling Maintenance: Establish and uphold a progressive approach to project scheduling.
  • Construction Strategy Development: Contribute to the formulation of construction and contract strategies, especially concerning logistics and safety measures.
  • Quantity Assessment: Conduct quantity assessments for activity durations and estimation purposes.
  • Leadership in Project Controls: Direct Project Controls initiatives with contractors and internal teams, providing essential guidance within the Project Controls framework.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary, while a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Construction Science, Building Science, or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Certifications: Certification from AACE International or the Project Management Institute (PMI) is highly desirable.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of relevant experience in scheduling and cost management is required.
  • Detail Orientation: Exceptional attention to detail is crucial.
  • Priority Management Skills: Ability to effectively prioritize and manage tasks.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities, capable of engaging with various disciplines and contractors to gather necessary information.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent presentation and organizational skills are essential.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Familiarity with deliverable development across different disciplines to ensure effective coordination.
  • Schedule and Cost Management Knowledge: Understanding of scheduling constraints and information requirements for project control deliverables, along with the ability to create cost estimates, detailed schedules, and man-hour budgets.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
