Role Responsibilities
The Senior Project Management Analyst will provide essential support in the realm of project oversight, focusing on:
- Project Initiation: Collaborating with project managers to formulate and assess project plans, estimates, schedules, and risk management strategies.
- Cost Management: Developing and implementing financial controls and monitoring processes to achieve project budgetary and scheduling goals.
- Data Analysis: Collecting, analyzing, and reporting project data and financial information from various stakeholders, including engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A university degree coupled with 10 to 15 years of relevant experience.
Key Accountabilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Establishing the project controls organizational structure and staffing requirements.
- Ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the overall project scope.
- Setting up control Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and budgets within financial systems.
- Communicating control WBS to scheduling teams and contractors for accurate reporting.
- Maintaining project controls plans across all critical areas.
- Conducting thorough reviews of project documentation and providing constructive feedback.
- Monitoring project schedules and maintaining a list of key milestones.
- Collaborating closely with estimators and schedulers to establish baselines.
- Ensuring adequate funding for project activities.
- Updating cost management systems with timely data and project trends.
- Reviewing contractor invoices to verify alignment with incurred costs.
- Analyzing discrepancies between initial estimates and actual costs.
- Monitoring cost performance metrics and recommending adjustments as necessary.
- Maintaining a project trend log and reviewing change orders.
- Participating in relevant meetings to update budgets and forecasts.
- Providing support and guidance to junior project control staff.
- Preparing presentations for senior management as required.
- Ensuring completion of all administrative and financial close-out activities.
Supervision and Reporting
This position typically reports to the Project Controls Manager or Scheduling Lead/Supervisor and plays a pivotal role within a project controls team on large-scale initiatives.
Experience Requirements
Field experience is considered an asset, particularly in executing moderate to high-risk capital projects across various asset types.
