Work Environment: As a Surgical Technologist, you will operate in a dynamic, collaborative, and technologically advanced setting where critical thinking and practical skills are vital. Specialties: Our facility encompasses 15 different specialties and 33 operating rooms, supported by dedicated Surgical Technologist Educators ready to assist you in exploring various opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Prepare necessary supplies and instruments for surgical procedures in accordance with surgeon preferences.
  • Maintain a sterile environment and anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
  • Ensure strict adherence to aseptic techniques by all team members.

Essential Skills:
  • Differentiate between sterile and non-sterile items processed through various sterilization methods.
  • Demonstrate foundational surgical case preparation by reviewing preference cards and gathering required instruments and supplies.
  • Provide safe patient care at a fundamental level.
  • Exhibit principles of aseptic technique and sterile awareness.
  • Possess basic knowledge of surgical procedures and human anatomy.
  • Maintain awareness of safety practices for patients, self, and team members at all times.
  • Eligibility to take specialty certification exam upon completion of an accredited surgical technology program.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Training Program.

Licensure: Current registration with the Virginia Board of Medicine is required at the time of hire. BLS certification is mandatory.

Experience: No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Demands: The role requires prolonged standing, repetitive motions, and the ability to lift heavy instrument sets. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills are essential, along with attention to detail and legible writing. Candidates must be capable of lifting/pushing/pulling significant weights and may be exposed to various environmental factors.
