POSITION: Marine Surveyor

DEPARTMENT: EIMC

REPORTS TO: Team Leader or Director of Marine Claims

STATUS: Regular, full-time; exempt

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

EIMC, a subsidiary of Engle Martin, is a dedicated marine consulting firm specializing in supply chain risk management and claims evaluation for insurers, brokers, third-party logistics providers, and industrial stakeholders. The Marine Surveyor plays a crucial role in assessing and conveying the degree of loss or damage related to ocean marine claims across various sectors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Independently manage and process assigned cases within established complexity limits.
  • Identify, propose, and implement suitable mitigation strategies with necessary supervisory guidance.
  • Broaden expertise to encompass comprehensive analysis of terms, clauses, and coverage.
  • Select appropriate company templates based on independent assessment of client needs.
  • Consistently produce clear, concise, and grammatically accurate reports requiring minimal oversight; seek assistance from senior team members when needed.
  • Participate in peer review processes as directed.
  • Review time and expenses with careful attention to estimates and client expectations.
  • Complete Lloyds Agency Module 3: Cargo Claims & Recoveries credentialing.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of market dynamics and influences.
  • Exercise supervised authority to communicate with clients beyond routine case correspondence, demonstrating reliability.
  • Engage in company meetings and training sessions with enthusiasm.
  • Identify and document valuable case studies from field experience, collaborating with management to share insights through supervised contributions to presentations.
  • Establish and nurture positive working relationships with colleagues across various departments, divisions, and locations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information, exercising sound judgment and discretion in any disclosures related to EM, EIMC, and its operations.
  • Comply with all relevant State Insurance Regulation requirements and other applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in ocean marine claim adjusting or related insurance roles preferred.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily conducted in a remote setting or an indoor office environment, protected from weather conditions and typical office noise.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role requires light lifting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, typing, and repetitive hand motions, along with normal speaking and hearing levels. Visual acuity is necessary for reading and preparing data, typing, viewing information on a computer, operating office machines, and ensuring the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
