Patient Access Coordinator

Position Overview
The Pre-Access Representative plays a crucial role in managing patient appointments for both elective and urgent care. This position involves collaborating with the Prior Authorization team to ensure all necessary approvals are secured prior to patient visits. Additionally, the representative is responsible for pre-registering patients by gathering essential demographic and insurance details for both outpatient and inpatient services.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently, addressing both elective and urgent needs.
- Work closely with Prior Authorization staff to confirm that all required authorizations are in place.
- Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information to facilitate smooth pre-registration.
- Communicate important visit details to patients, including preparation instructions and check-in times.
- Focus on understanding patient needs while optimizing hospital resources and insurance benefits.
Minimum Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in registration or scheduling.
- Experience with third-party payers is preferred.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of Medical Terminology.
- Typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Windows and desktop applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Ability to apply logic and critical thinking for effective problem-solving.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
