Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role within the finance department, reporting directly to the Controller. This position is tasked with the preparation of month-end journal entries, conducting balance sheet reconciliations, and finalizing related supporting schedules for various key balance sheet accounts, including cash, investments, prepaids, fixed assets, and accruals. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will prepare monthly and quarterly financial statement flux analysis and co-facilitate quarterly business meetings with department leaders. This role also includes providing backup support to the Accounts Payable team and assisting in the preparation of various metrics periodically. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, such as financial statement auditors, internal auditors, legal teams, and other agency filings, is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare month-end journal entries along with the corresponding supporting documentation.
  • Conduct balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to prepare monthly and quarterly flux analysis and lead meetings.
  • Manage fixed assets, ensuring timely capitalization and disposal.
  • Maintain prepaid schedules and establish recurring journal entries as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly accruals.
  • Record journal entries submitted by other team members, including those related to Revenue, Inventory, Debt, COGS, and various accruals.
  • Compile and prepare requests for external/internal auditors and other professional service providers.
  • Assist in the preparation of finance-related filings.
  • Conduct annual process documentation updates.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system implementations or upgrades.
  • Act as a backup for the Accounts Payable team.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX regulations across all areas.
  • Undertake any ad hoc projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience in a publicly traded company.
  • Familiarity with the general accounting financial close process.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on achieving results.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent technical, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
