Position Overview:

Your primary role will involve executing supplier-related tasks to guarantee plant quality, assisting in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, and ensuring seamless quality launches of both new and modified products. You will also be responsible for resolving supplier concerns and monitoring supplier performance to drive continuous improvement among direct material suppliers based on our Quality System.

Additionally, you will lead and develop the team members reporting to you.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate change management processes related to suppliers.
  • Conduct product launch activities as necessary, adhering to APQP/Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) guidelines.
  • Oversee supplier product launch quality activities in line with APQP/PPAP standards.
  • Manage the supplier rating system and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Ensure safety, processes, equipment, and budgets align with local and corporate standards.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to enhance supplier development through interviews and plant visits.
  • Support the approval process for supplier PPAPs related to engineering changes, liaising with plants, projects, and customers as needed.
  • Conduct regular assessments of supplier facilities and manufacturing processes to evaluate quality control adequacy and compliance with specifications.
  • Initiate supplier-related 8D reports to address nonconformance, delivery, warranty, and performance issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Work with Quality Engineers, inspectors, production associates, and suppliers to address customer complaints stemming from supplier-related quality issues.
  • Participate in departmental meetings to assist in organizational planning, achieve objectives, and review Supplier Quality Assurance activities and policies.
  • Conduct initial problem investigations and containment actions at the plant or program site for purchased direct materials.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external production quality management systems and directives.
  • Perform or oversee inspections of purchased direct materials as needed, assist in managing supplier non-conformances, and initiate chargebacks to recover costs associated with poor supplier performance.
  • Engage in APQP teams to launch new products in accordance with ZF SQE Structure, including supplier development and documentation requirements.

Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 7-8+ years of experience leading technical projects.
  • Strong organizational and task management abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in commodity management.
  • Prior experience or education in Supplier Quality Engineering or Quality Engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage daily tasks.
  • Proficient in using Process Flow Charts, FMEAs, and Control Plans.
  • Experienced with dimensional and material testing equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in the automotive industry.
  • Internal Auditor Certification.
  • Six Sigma training.
  • Familiarity with measurement and testing equipment.
  • General knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Commodity-specific knowledge relevant to the role.
