The Quality Assurance Specialist will oversee management system procedures, analyze production and quality data to identify trends, and spearhead problem-solving initiatives. This role includes conducting process and product audits to assess the adequacy of quality process controls, supporting external audits, and issuing and monitoring Corrective and Preventative Action plans to ensure effective closure, including objective evidence of effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will apply their engineering expertise and experience, driven by data and facts, and will be comfortable leading teams of operators, technicians, and engineers through various projects and problem-solving activities.
As a member of the quality team, reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for delivering measurable results in alignment with business objectives by implementing enhancements, supporting new product industrialization, improving capacity utilization, and managing continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:- Identify non-conformances and opportunities for enhancement, utilizing six-sigma and DMAIC methodologies to establish a data-driven improvement cycle within the production environment.
- Lead investigations into customer complaints using the 8D or other Problem Solving Methodologies.
- Document process and product non-conformities and follow up on corrective actions. Initiate actions to prevent the recurrence of non-conformities related to products, processes, and quality systems. Verify or participate in the verification of implemented solutions.
- Ensure the effective use of the existing non-conformance reporting system for efficient non-conformance management.
- Conduct internal audits of critical operational processes.
- Develop and manage control plans for manufacturing processes.
- Engage with customers on technical and quality-related topics or issues.
- Lead, participate in, and support cross-functional project teams to enhance productivity, reduce waste, improve quality, and bolster safety.
- Track and prepare reports for internal quality performance metrics.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures aimed at continuously improving the quality system.
- Participate in maintaining ISO 9001 registration and other quality system requirements.
- Uphold and promote the environmental, health, and safety policies of AFL.
- Perform additional duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Quality Management or a related Engineering field.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment as a process, quality, or project engineer.
- Proven expertise in process-based auditing, root cause analysis, problem-solving, and process improvement techniques.
- ASQ certification (SSBB, CQE, CQM, and/or CQA) is preferred.
- Ability to differentiate between successful, closed-loop quality systems and those that pose risks due to fundamental weaknesses.
- Competence in conducting informative, process-based audits based on a thorough understanding of quality system requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical analysis software.
Working Conditions:- Normal office/manufacturing environment.
- Availability to support off-shift and/or weekend operations.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
