Wastewater Operations Specialist

Position Summary: The Wastewater Technician/Maintenance Mechanic I plays a crucial role in managing wastewater processes. This position involves ensuring the effective operation of wastewater systems, troubleshooting mechanical and chemical issues, and executing various maintenance tasks to uphold production machinery and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calibrate and repair diaphragm pumps and other mechanical components.
- Manage sample bottle switching and programmed samplers as necessary.
- Conduct mechanical and chemical troubleshooting of wastewater systems.
- Maintain chemical inventory, including checking and replacing chemicals.
- Utilize computer systems to generate periodic flow and pH charts.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance of filter presses as required.
- Oversee sludge removal processes.
- Maintain detailed logs of routine and unusual conditions.
- Assist municipal and contracted technicians during audits and sample collections, coordinating hazardous waste management.
- Operate all wastewater and related equipment efficiently.
- Respond to maintenance service requests promptly.
- Utilize the EAM system for comprehensive maintenance record-keeping.
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Disassemble machinery to assess issues, repair damages, and replace worn parts as needed.
- Perform mechanical adjustments to align production machinery and newly installed components accurately.
- Possess basic skills in plumbing and carpentry, including constructing workbenches and office partitions.
- Engage in various machining tasks requiring familiarity with machinist practices.
- Demonstrate knowledge in plumbing, carpentry, welding, and general maintenance, with the ability to interpret blueprints and recommend machinery modifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety regulations.
- Carry out additional related duties as directed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 0-3 years of experience in an industrial maintenance role.
- Ability to obtain a Waste Water License Grade 2 within 90 days.
- Understanding of wastewater theory and operations.
- Familiarity with wastewater equipment, including pumps and valves.
- Capability to repair and maintain wastewater systems.
- Knowledge of safe handling of hazardous chemicals.
- Ability to plan and execute wastewater operations effectively.
- Proficiency with standard mechanic's hand tools and power tools.
- Willingness to learn and advance through mechanic levels.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook.
- Ability to interpret repair manuals and use the EAM system for maintenance documentation.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across all organizational levels.
- Ability to operate industrial power equipment as required.
