Key Responsibilities:- Triage and admit emergency cases, utilizing your expertise to ensure timely and effective care.
- Provide nursing care to critically ill or injured patients, ensuring consistent evaluation and monitoring to optimize patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate proficiency in advanced hospitalization care and continuous rate infusions (CRIs), utilizing your knowledge to make informed decisions.
- Perform in-house laboratory procedures, including blood draws and sample analysis, to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
- Skilledly place intravenous (IV) catheters, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Conduct accurate and detailed patient rounds, communicating effectively with the veterinary team to ensure seamless care.
- Safely restrain fractious and frightened patients, utilizing your expertise to minimize stress and ensure patient safety.
- Obtain temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPR) measurements and maintain accurate medical records, ensuring timely and effective care.
- Recognize situations requiring immediate attention from a veterinarian, taking prompt action to ensure patient well-being.
- Act as an advocate for both the patient and client, providing exceptional customer service and support.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or 3 consecutive years of Veterinary Assistant experience in an Emergency Room/Critical Care Unit (ER/CCU) setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients, demonstrating tact, patience, and professional courtesy while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices, estimates, and other related calculations.
- Hold or obtain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire or transfer into the role (waived if a valid CA-RVT license is held).
- $40.00 hourly plus shift differentials.
- Monthly in-house RACE-approved courses and staff development opportunities.
- Reimbursement for eligible expenses related to continuing education and coursework.
- Bonuses for achieving major career milestones, such as obtaining RVT or VTS certification.
