Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care team in Redwood City. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care, work collaboratively with our veterinarians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the success of our hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Triage and admit emergency cases, ensuring timely and effective care for critically ill or injured animals.
- Provide nursing care to patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing laboratory procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in advanced hospitalization care, including continuous rate infusions (CRIs) and intravenous (IV) catheter placement.
- Conduct accurate and detailed patient rounds, recognizing situations requiring immediate attention from a veterinarian.
- Act as an advocate for both the patient and client, providing exceptional communication and customer service.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or 3 consecutive years of Veterinary Assistant experience in an Emergency Room/Critical Care Unit (ER/CCU) setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients.
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices, estimates, and other related calculations.
- Hold or obtain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire or transfer into the role (waived if a valid CA-RVT license is held).
We offer a competitive hourly rate of $40.00, plus shift differentials and a sign-on bonus up to $5,000. Our comprehensive benefits program includes medical, dental, vision, a 401(k) with employer match, and paid time off (including sick time) for all eligible employees.
