Critical Care Veterinary Technician
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Critical Care Veterinary Technician to join our team at Ethos Veterinary Health. As a critical care specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our hospital.
About the Role:
This is a full-time position working a 4/10 schedule with flexibility required, including some holidays or weekends. The successful candidate will work overnight shifts with a $5 paid differential. The compensation range for this role is between $25 - $40 hourly, plus a hiring bonus of up to $7,000 for new, full-time employees.
Key Responsibilities:
* Triage incoming patients and provide nursing care to critically ill patients
* Record histories and SOAP notes, and maintain accurate medical records
* Demonstrate proficiency in advanced hospitalization care and continuous rate infusions (CRIs)
* Perform in-house laboratory procedures and skillfully place intravenous (IV) catheters
* Conduct accurate and detailed patient rounds, and safely restrain fractious and frightened patients
* Obtain temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPR) measurements and maintain medical records
* Recognize situations requiring immediate attention from a veterinarian, and act as an advocate for both the patient and the client
Requirements:
* High school diploma
* Clinical experience in the veterinary industry as a Registered Veterinary Technician, or 3 consecutive years of Veterinary Assistant experience in an Emergency Room/Critical Care Unit setting
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients, demonstrating tact, patience, and professional courtesy while maintaining confidentiality and discretion
* Proficiency in mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices, estimates, and other related calculations
* Hold or obtain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire or transfer into the role (waived if a valid CA-RVT license is held)
