The Sustainability and Safety Compliance Specialist will assist in the formulation of site Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) policies and both annual and long-term strategies in alignment with corporate standards and applicable laws and regulations. This role will implement designated components of the site SHE strategy and aid in the adherence to company SHE protocols.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, organize, and facilitate SHE-related training sessions, including work permits, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Perform risk assessments on various operational equipment and tasks to evaluate risks and propose mitigation strategies to relevant teams (e.g., production, maintenance).
  • Ensure environmental compliance by overseeing waste management processes, air emissions tracking, and Triple P reporting.
  • Assist in the Management of Change process, including evaluating changes for SHE implications.
  • Develop and support occupational health initiatives, including conducting Health Risk Assessments, industrial hygiene planning, and creating programs such as Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, and Ergonomics.
  • Support the site in the preparation and execution of the SHE Plan.
  • Provide guidance on a wide range of SHE-related issues.
  • Contribute to the Emergency Response Plan through participation and support of training activities.
  • Develop and conduct emergency drills and address identified deficiencies.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with SHE standards and track the progress of SHE Plan implementation.
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations, exercising sound judgment based on situational analysis.
  • Guide teams through site Root Cause Analysis methodologies to identify effective solutions to incidents.
  • Maintain the Incident Reporting system for the site.
  • Oversee site safety metric reporting to meet internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with corporate SHE to fulfill internal reporting obligations.

What You Bring:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a technical or SHE-related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in various SHE functions, with a minimum of 2 years in manufacturing-related SHE roles.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical thinking abilities, with a solid understanding of widely accepted SHE practices.
  • Basic knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, European Union (EU) regulations, and US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations is preferred.
  • Good understanding of US OSHA regulations as they pertain to general industry.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advisory skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
