Job Overview

The Corporate Counsel will play a pivotal role within the RHD Legal team, offering legal guidance and support to both staff and management at a prominent non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will exhibit innovative thinking in developing legal strategies, adaptability, and excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across all organizational levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Senior Corporate Counsel to manage and execute various legal tasks as needed.
  • Assist in the distribution of legal information, training sessions, and communication efforts led by Senior Corporate Counsel.
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice on diverse topics, including labor and employment law, contract negotiations, real estate issues, responses to subpoenas, intellectual property matters, research compliance, and risk management strategies.
  • Address inquiries from all organizational levels, ensuring clarity and support.
  • Engage in negotiations for labor agreements, contractor arrangements, vendor contracts, or employee agreements.
  • Draft, review, and modify a wide array of legal documents, including contracts and correspondence.
  • Prepare responses for governmental agencies, funders, and stakeholders by gathering necessary information through various investigative methods.
  • Compile and submit government reports as required.
  • Conduct and oversee legal research to support organizational needs.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate is mandatory.
  • Must hold a valid license in one or more states; preference for Pennsylvania.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a corporate legal department, law firm, or governmental agency is preferred.
  • Experience in business, commercial, or labor/employment law is essential, particularly in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts across various commercial contexts.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to influence and persuade stakeholders effectively.
  • Capability to quickly establish credibility within the organization.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating leases is advantageous.
  • Prior experience working with or for non-profit organizations is preferred.
