This role is essential for providing legal guidance as part of the corporate legal team, focusing on the company's comprehensive global compliance initiatives while ensuring adherence to legal standards. Key responsibilities encompass overseeing moderate-sized projects, assisting in extensive projects, formulating and executing policies, conducting training sessions, performing investigations, and evaluating worldwide compliance protocols across several critical areas, including but not limited to: anti-corruption, anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, antitrust regulations, fair trade practices, code of conduct, conflict of interest management, conflict minerals, due diligence for third parties, gifts and entertainment policies, contract management, human trafficking prevention, insider trading regulations, and records management.
Core Responsibilities
General Legal Duties
Offers legal support and aids in identifying and resolving complex legal challenges requiring detailed analysis and sound judgment. Participates in diverse projects as a corporate legal advisor. Provides legal insights concerning assigned projects and initiatives, balancing corporate interests with fiduciary duties. Supports mergers and acquisitions due diligence as a legal advisor. Coordinates with external legal counsel and regulatory bodies to manage and advise internal stakeholders on intricate legal matters.Ethics and Compliance Duties
Conducts investigations related to ethics and compliance, formulates recommendations, and legally supports the resolution of issues under privilege. Oversees, reports, and manages data for the global compliance hotline as legal counsel. Engages in legal research, develops, supports, and provides legal advice on compliance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with local and international regulations. Advises on and supports global training initiatives, including educating employees on compliance policies and procedures to foster a culture of integrity and ethical behavior. Collaborates closely with various departments, including ESG, HR, Finance, Conflict Minerals, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Operations, to ensure thorough compliance coverage. Stays informed of legislative changes that may affect the company's compliance programs, providing legal analysis and guidance, and adjusting strategies as necessary.Qualifications & Experience
Juris Doctor (JD) degree and licensed to practice law in good standing in at least one state or the District of Columbia. Preferred 2-4+ years of legal experience as in-house counsel or in a consulting role at a major firm, though relevant experience from law firms or government agencies will be considered. Familiarity with FCPA, ethics, policy drafting, investigations, due diligence, and support of a global corporate compliance program is preferred. Experience managing multiple projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.Required Skills
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong ability to listen actively. Capacity to collaborate effectively and work across various functions. Proficiency in building relationships across all levels and locations within the organization. Ability to comprehend organizational functions to apply that understanding to projects and assignments. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, facilitating effective interaction with all organizational levels. Must be able to work full-time during standard business hours in a remote or in-office environment. Flexibility to work extended hours (early mornings, evenings, or weekends) as needed. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.Physical and Safety Requirements
