Position Overview

The Corporate Counsel will play a pivotal role within the RHD Legal team, offering expert legal guidance to both staff and management at a prominent non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will exhibit innovative thinking in developing legal strategies, adaptability, and exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication across all organizational levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Senior Corporate Counsel to manage and execute various legal tasks as needed.
  • Assist in the distribution of legal information, training sessions, and communication efforts led by Senior Corporate Counsel.
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice on diverse topics, including labor and employment law, contractual agreements, real estate issues, responses to subpoenas, intellectual property, research compliance, and risk management.
  • Address inquiries from all organizational tiers with professionalism and expertise.
  • Negotiate and support negotiations for contracts related to labor, contractors, vendors, or employees.
  • Draft, review, and modify a wide array of legal documents, including contracts and correspondence.
  • Prepare and submit responses on behalf of the legal department to governmental bodies, funders, and other stakeholders through thorough investigation and research.
  • Compile and file necessary governmental reports.
  • Conduct and oversee legal research as required.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate is mandatory.
  • Must hold a valid license in one or more states; preference for Pennsylvania.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a corporate legal department, law firm, or governmental agency is preferred.
  • Experience in business, commercial, or labor/employment law is essential, with a focus on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of contracts.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to influence and persuade effectively.
  • Capability to establish credibility swiftly.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating leases is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with or for non-profit organizations is advantageous.
