Fire Protection Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to deliver Fire Protection Engineering design support for various projects, including Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fire protection engineering assessments for both new and existing structures, which encompass analysis, plans, specifications, calculations, and estimates for the implementation of active and passive fire protection systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure adherence to project scope, timelines, and budgets while meeting customer expectations.
  • Assist in minimizing project delays by providing timely technical reviews and recommendations.
  • Research and interpret relevant codes, policies, and regulations, offering sound technical advice both verbally and in writing.
  • Utilize innovative engineering principles to address and resolve technical challenges.
  • Engage with clients, project stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to facilitate effective communication and project execution.
  • Organize and lead meetings, providing actionable recommendations based on project needs and documenting discussions.
  • Review technical documentation, designs, and project deliverables to ensure compliance with client requirements.
  • Support the review of commissioning plans and construction submittals, as well as field inspections.
  • Summarize project progress during meetings and prepare monthly status reports.
  • Note: Field investigations are not required; no travel is necessary.
Qualifications
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Security Clearance: Secret (Tier 3 preferred) or the ability to obtain.
  • Proven experience in fire protection engineering for various facility types.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code.
  • Strong foundation in engineering principles relevant to the discipline.
  • Experience in preparing technical documentation and reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and/or Revit.
  • Ability to learn new software applications as needed.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience & Education
  • A minimum of 6 years in Design Management and/or Design experience.
  • A degree from an accredited Engineering program (4-year).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain stationary for at least 60% of the time.
  • Capable of operating standard office equipment.
  • Light lifting capability, under 10 lbs.
