About the Role

The MITRE Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Lead Fires Systems Engineer to join our Joint and Services Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of systems engineering solutions for fires systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Build and Manage Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, MITRE, and stakeholders to inform warfighter requirements and concepts of operation.
  2. Develop Systems Engineering Plans: Create and manage cohesive systems engineering development and campaign plans for INDOPACOM fires.
  3. Enhance Collaboration and Coordination: Increase collaboration and coordination on experimentation between INDOPACOM, Service Components, and Services.
  4. Develop DOTMLPF-P Solutions: Work with supporting functions to develop solutions to theater fires challenges.
  5. Collaborate with Government and Industry Partners: Collaborate with government, FFRDC, and MITRE leads and organizations to identify and integrate new technology into theater architectures.
Requirements
  1. Education and Experience: Typically BS in a technical discipline, such as Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields; or a BA in International Relations, International Security, or similar fields and 8 years of experience, or a master's degree and 6 years of experience.
  2. Familiarity with DoD Military Missions: Familiarity with DoD military missions.
  3. Expert Knowledge of Fires Processes: Demonstrated expert level knowledge of fires processes at the operational and strategic level.
  4. Working Knowledge of Joint and Service Targeting and Fire Control Systems: Working knowledge of Joint and Service targeting and fire control systems.
  5. Strong System-of-Systems Engineering Experience: Strong system-of-systems engineering experience across various mission sets.
  6. Prior Experience with US Department of Defense Systems of Systems Integration: Prior experience with US Department of Defense systems of systems integration.
  7. Effective and Influential Oral Communications Skills: Effective and influential oral communications skills.
  8. Active Top Secret Clearance: Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Advanced Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of related experience; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  2. Working Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering: Working knowledge of model-based systems engineering, operational analysis, and modeling & simulation.
  3. Current Knowledge of Emerging Technology: Current knowledge of emerging technology being adopted into acquisition programs and/or the INDOPACOM theater.
  4. Familiarity with MITRE Project Management Processes: Familiarity with MITRE project management processes, capabilities, and associated tools.
  5. Demonstrated Capability for Strategic Planning: Demonstrated capability for strategic planning and ability to provide actionable plans to government sponsors.
  6. Active TS/SCI: Active TS/SCI.
