A prominent chemical production company is seeking a Plant Operations Manager to oversee their manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all operations adhere to safety, environmental, and quality standards, including compliance with relevant regulations. This role involves leading a dedicated team and managing the plant's physical assets to guarantee timely customer deliveries, enhance equipment efficiency, and implement necessary capital improvements in collaboration with the executive team. This position offers significant opportunities for professional advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee production processes, planning, and maintenance related to chemical mixing and mechanical repairs.
  • Manage Environmental, Health, Safety, and regulatory programs in conjunction with the EHS&S Coordinator and Corporate EHS&S leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Site Director to create production schedules that align with internal objectives and customer expectations while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Directly supervise all chemical mixing and mechanical repair staff, collaborating with the Operations Director and Corporate HR for recruitment, disciplinary actions, and compliance with labor regulations.
  • Work alongside the Site Director and Corporate HR to ensure proper resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with the Site Quality Assurance Manager to guarantee that all products meet customer, industry, and regulatory quality standards.
  • Enforce personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements in line with company and OSHA regulations.
  • Lead production planning meetings as necessary.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the area of responsibility.
  • Engage with R&D and Commercial teams to ensure adherence to the management of change process and participate in design reviews.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Corporate Finance to meet cost targets related to operational expenses and capital budgets.
  • Ensure that the physical plant and maintenance activities comply with company and applicable local, state, and national standards.
  • Conduct investigations for any safety or quality incidents within the area of responsibility.
  • Utilize OE Suites for change management and incident reporting.
  • Employ ERP systems for necessary purchase order entries.
  • Develop training programs in partnership with Corporate EHS&S to foster team development.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience in chemical mixing is essential.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred, though practical experience in chemical plant management may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Previous management experience is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with production planning, process optimization, small project management, and process capability enhancement.
  • Proficient in computer use, particularly Microsoft Office, and capable of navigating various software systems.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, written) and the ability to work effectively with challenging individuals in high-pressure situations.

A self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills is essential; the ability to maintain positive customer relationships is crucial.
