Position Overview:
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Orthoptist will work under the supervision of the Orthoptist Supervisor and alongside a Physician to conduct specialized ocular assessments and provide comprehensive care to patients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed evaluations of patients to gather essential information for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Monitor and document patient progress, promptly notifying the Physician of any significant changes.
- Implement treatment plans based on diagnostic results, including therapeutic exercises, patching, and prism therapy.
- Prepare and maintain thorough reports on all tests conducted as required.
- Utilize a computerized system for patient scheduling and manage medical billing processes.
- Capture and label photographs of patients' eyes as requested by the Physician, preparing them for further analysis.
- Oversee the inventory of departmental supplies and ensure the availability of necessary equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, reporting any malfunctions as needed.
- Engage in research initiatives by modifying testing protocols as necessary.
- Educate patients about procedures, assist with injections and minor surgical tasks, and administer medications as directed by the Physician.
- Provide training and orientation on ophthalmic and orthoptic testing procedures.

Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an accredited Orthoptics program, current certification in Cardiac Life Support, and completion of the Ophthalmic Assistant course, along with one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification from the Canadian Orthoptic Council (COC) is required.
