Transportation Talent Acquisition Specialist

Position Overview
The Transportation Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing Covenant Logistics Group's fleet of dedicated, safety-focused driving professionals.
This position involves prioritizing and evaluating applicants, coordinating orientation sessions, and maintaining communication with the most qualified candidates for available roles, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and relevant employment laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess incoming applications from driver candidates
- Engage qualified individuals to consider Covenant Logistics Group as their next career destination by effectively articulating the benefits, compensation, and culture of the organization
- Manage both outbound and inbound communication
- Conduct preliminary phone interviews to assess candidate qualifications
- Reduce the number of disqualified applicants
- Perform thorough background checks to validate applicant qualifications
- Generate necessary reports to evaluate driver qualifications
- Input qualified candidates into the applicant tracking system, ensuring all verification details are accurately recorded
- Provide updates to candidates regarding their application status
- Schedule successful candidates for orientation sessions
- Independently organize time and resources to achieve designated performance metrics for the assigned area
- Document all recruitment activities and application statuses in the applicant tracking system
- Utilize the ATS for candidate communication, follow-ups, and rescheduling
- Report weekly on lead quality and numbers
- Complete required daily, weekly, and monthly reporting
- Participate in company-sponsored motivational and educational training
- Ensure all new applicants are contacted within 24-36 hours
- Understand job descriptions and requirements for open positions
- Maintain a consistent effort in developing candidate pipelines weekly
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the ongoing needs of Covenant Logistics Group
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel, with experience in web-based databases and communication tools; familiarity with modern recruiting software is advantageous
- Highly organized and effective under pressure, accountable for achieving results
- Self-driven with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of delivering timely and valuable service to candidates and management
- Experience in the transportation sector and knowledge of DOT regulations is preferred
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience in sales or telemarketing is preferred
Covenant's compensation strategy aims to provide a competitive total compensation package that reflects the market value of the position while considering individual factors such as performance, experience, and tenure with the company.
The compensation system is designed to be objective and non-discriminatory.
Pay Range:
$40,000.63-$62,120.37
Pay Grade: 6
