Job Overview

Position Summary

The Transportation Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Risk Management and Safety, Security, and Fleet divisions. This position is responsible for a variety of administrative functions, including the management of records, data entry, and reporting related to vehicles and drivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of both Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) and Non-CMV within internal risk management systems.
  • Administer vehicle and driver oversight using the Smith 360 platform.
  • Generate weekly reports that outline vehicle infractions for site management and maintain regular communication with senior management and Risk Management.
  • Ensure that vehicle technologies and maintenance schedules are up to date.
  • Maintain and record driver data in internal risk management systems.
  • Lead investigations into DOT-related accidents and perform thorough root cause analyses.
  • Keep comprehensive driver files and records.
  • Input necessary documents such as Hours of Service (HOS), Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs), physicals, state inspections, annual reviews, and other essential paperwork into Docuware.
  • Support the onboarding process for drivers, including the review of motor vehicle records and pre-employment screenings.
  • Assist with document retention and filing for new operational sites.
  • Collaborate with DOT specialists and risk management teams to uphold DOT compliance.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation safety and DOT compliance is required.
  • Proficiency in Tenstreet driver recruiting software is essential.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and permitting is preferred.
  • Must be organized and self-driven.
