Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Operations Specialist to join our team at Software Technology Inc. as a key member of our Transportation Operations team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate advanced traffic management systems to manage traffic and incidents on roadways, improving traffic conditions and ensuring public safety.
  • Monitor roadways via CCTV surveillance cameras and detection systems, identifying potential issues and taking proactive measures to mitigate them.
  • Monitor and maintain advanced knowledge of all traffic equipment, computers, and software associated with traffic systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Utilize traffic equipment for incident management, improving travel time, safety, and quality of life for motorists and toll customers.
  • Continuously check the accuracy and validity of messages displayed on all DMS and 511 systems, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.
  • Stay aware of all 511 messages broadcasted on a particular system, providing situational awareness and facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Enter incident information into computer systems using traffic software, maintaining accurate records and facilitating incident response.
  • Become familiar with roadways and understand the purpose and location of each traffic device, ensuring effective incident response and management.
  • Alert operator staff to new and existing memos, ensuring timely awareness and compliance with procedures.
  • Use SOG to detect, dispatch, monitor, and document roadway incidents, ensuring efficient and effective incident response.
  • Confer with partners, including highway patrol, Service Patrols, Local Law Enforcement, Fire Rescue, and adjacent Traffic Management Centers or other DOT Regions, to coordinate resources for incidents affecting regional travel.
  • Dispatch Service Patrols and assist Service Patrols with other tasks, such as phone calls, to ensure seamless incident response.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Transportation Operations team.
Requirements
  • Advanced level operator position with minimal supervision and adherence to established procedures.
  • Ability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic management systems, including computer-based systems and CCTV surveillance cameras.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
