Role Summary

The Behavioral Interventionist is tasked with overseeing and ensuring the safety of the youth entrusted to our care. The primary focus is to guide behavior choices by imparting essential social, self-help, academic, and life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and supervision of all youth in alignment with operational and contractual standards.
  • Monitor youth in accordance with established policies and procedures to maintain a secure environment for both youth and staff.
  • Act as a mentor and positive role model for participants in the program.
  • Prevent and manage conflicts among youth using approved intervention techniques.
  • Utilize the Behavior Modification System effectively by providing guidance and support to youth.
  • Assist and coach youth in developing personal responsibility, social skills, community living skills, and effective communication.
  • Provide individualized tutoring and support in computer lab settings as required.
  • Report any issues or incidents to management promptly.
  • Communicate relevant information to team members and supervisors as necessary.
  • Complete incident, accident, and behavioral documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records as required.
  • Ensure that facilities, equipment, and supplies comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Instruct youth on proper maintenance of equipment to meet compliance standards.
  • Keep a log of repairs and inventory for related equipment.
  • Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in line with national standards.
  • May supervise youth during day and overnight trips, as well as special activities involving recreational sports, which may require extended hours.
  • Drive program vehicles as needed, adhering to AMIkids transportation guidelines.
  • Transport youth and perform other work-related driving tasks as required.
  • Position necessitates regular driving responsibilities.
  • Participate in all mandatory training and professional development sessions, maintaining necessary certifications and licenses.
  • Be available for training outside the program as required (travel may be necessary).
  • Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED required; Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in an educational or youth service setting, particularly with at-risk youth, is preferred.
