Role Summary

The Behavioral Interventionist is tasked with overseeing and ensuring the safety of the youth entrusted to our care. This position focuses on guiding behavior by imparting essential social, self-help, academic, and life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the safety and supervision of all youth in compliance with operational and contractual standards.
  • Oversee youth activities according to established policies to ensure the well-being of both youth and staff.
  • Act as a mentor and positive influence for the youth in the program.
  • Prevent and manage conflicts among youth using state-mandated intervention techniques.
  • Utilize the Behavior Modification System effectively, providing redirection and support to youth.
  • Guide and mentor youth in developing personal responsibility, social skills, community living skills, and effective communication.
  • Provide individualized tutoring and assist in computer lab activities as necessary.
  • Report any issues or incidents to management promptly.
  • Communicate relevant information to team members and supervisors as needed.
  • Complete necessary documentation for incidents, accidents, and behavioral reports in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation as required.
  • Ensure that all facilities, equipment, and supplies adhere to legal and policy standards.
  • Instruct youth on the proper maintenance of equipment to meet compliance standards.
  • Keep a detailed log of repairs and inventory for related equipment.
  • Provide first aid and CPR during emergencies in line with national standards.
  • May be required to supervise youth during day or overnight trips and special recreational activities, which may involve extended hours.
  • Drive program vehicles as needed, adhering to AMIkids transportation guidelines.
  • Transport youth and perform other work-related driving tasks as required.
  • Regular driving is a requirement of this position.
  • Participate in all mandatory training and professional development sessions, maintaining necessary certifications and licenses.
  • Be available for training outside the program as required.
  • Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; an Associate or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience in an educational or youth service setting, particularly with at-risk youth, is desirable.
