Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Behavioral Support Technician (BST) plays a crucial role in implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies for children and adolescents in a residential environment. Under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the BST collaborates with a diverse team to promote positive behavioral outcomes and support the overall well-being of the youth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The BST provides comprehensive behavioral services throughout the facility, delivering direct therapy and facilitating staff training on trauma-informed approaches to enhance youth support.

2. Assists the BCBA in conducting Preference Assessments, Functional Behavior Assessments, and developing Behavior Intervention Plans, ensuring adherence to best practices.

3. Maintains precise and timely clinical documentation that meets agency standards and complies with regulatory requirements, including Medicaid guidelines.

4. Inputs necessary records into the Electronic Health Record and billing systems for services rendered.

5. Strives to achieve a minimum of 80% billable hours during scheduled shifts.

6. Engages positively with fellow team members, including clinical therapists, educators, and case managers, to ensure effective service delivery.

7. Participates in discrete trial training and naturalistic teaching methods as required.

8. Conducts various assessments such as VBMAPP, Vineland, and BASC to evaluate youth progress.

9. Collects, analyzes, and summarizes data to monitor treatment effectiveness and inform decision-making.

10. Actively participates in treatment plan reviews, consultations, and meetings requiring input from the BST.

11. Contributes to the implementation of campus-wide positive behavior support initiatives and incentive programs.

12. Adheres to the philosophy and operational practices of the Children's Home Network.

13. Complies with the 'Professional and Ethical Compliance Code for Behavior Analysts' in all interactions.

14. Supports the application of a multi-tiered positive behavior support framework, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions, alongside billable Tier 3 services.

15. Utilizes evidence-based practices to deliver innovative ABA therapy in a supportive environment for at-risk youth.

16. Aids the BCBA in daily operations to address the behavioral needs of clients and staff within the residential facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

- Must hold a valid Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.

- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Current enrollment as a Medicaid Provider.

Licenses & Certifications:

- Valid Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.

- Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.

- Reliable transportation and proof of insurance, meeting Children's Home Network requirements.

- Successful completion of background checks and screenings as mandated.

COMPETENCIES & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

Annual training requirements must be fulfilled to maintain employment, including topics such as: Sexual Harassment Prevention, Blood-borne Pathogens, Workplace Safety, Confidentiality, Diversity, Child Abuse Reporting, Crisis Prevention, and Program Goals.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

- Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of managing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

- Capacity to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and perform visual tasks effectively.

- Ability to comprehend spoken dialogue in various settings.

- Capable of lifting at least 20 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Engages in both office and residential campus activities.

- May accompany youth on community outings.

- Requires high emotional intelligence to navigate sensitive discussions and maintain professional boundaries.

- High interaction with children, including potential exposure to challenging behaviors.
