Role Summary
The Behavioral Interventionist is tasked with overseeing and ensuring the safety of the youth entrusted to our care. The primary focus is to guide behavior choices by imparting essential social, self-help, academic, and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Guarantee the safety and supervision of all youth in line with operational and contractual standards.
- Monitor youth according to established policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of both youth and staff, adhering to all contractual obligations.
- Act as a mentor and positive role model for participants in the program.
- Prevent and manage youth conflicts and incidents using approved intervention techniques.
- Effectively implement the Behavior Modification System by providing redirection and coaching.
- Guide and support youth in developing personal responsibility, social skills, community living skills, interpersonal communication, and appropriate behavior.
- Provide individualized tutoring and assist in computer lab activities as necessary.
- Promptly report any issues or incidents to management.
- Communicate essential information to relevant team members and supervisors.
- Complete incident, accident, and behavioral documentation as per standard operating procedures.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation as required.
- Ensure that facilities, equipment, and supplies comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Instruct youth on maintaining equipment within compliance standards.
- Keep a detailed repair and maintenance log along with an inventory of related equipment.
- Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with national standards.
- May be required to supervise during day and/or overnight excursions, special activities involving recreational sports, and may necessitate extended work hours.
- Drive program vehicles as needed, following AMIkids transportation guidelines.
- Transport youth and perform other work-related driving tasks as required.
- Regular driving is a requirement of this position.
- Attend all mandatory training and professional development sessions, maintaining necessary certifications and licenses.
- Be available for training outside the program as required (travel may be necessary).
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED is required; an Associate or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience in an educational or youth service setting, particularly with at-risk youth, is desirable.
