The Burlington School District is in search of a motivated individual to fulfill the role of Evening Custodial and Maintenance Specialist. This position involves providing a range of maintenance and custodial services to meet the district's needs.

The successful candidate will serve as a roving custodian, covering various schools within the Burlington School District, addressing staff absences, and performing light maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume the duties of a Head Custodian or Building Custodian in their absence.
  • Conduct repairs, preventative maintenance, and various projects utilizing custodial equipment such as brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, and other cleaning supplies.
  • Assist trades and grounds personnel as needed.
  • Implement and follow up on actions resulting from safety and asbestos inspections.
  • Exercise leadership and responsibility for maintaining school facilities.
  • Ensure continuity of operations while acting as Head Custodian during second shift hours.
  • Report any safety concerns or issues to the Director of Property Services.
  • Maintain accountability for assigned tools and equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Property Services or their designee.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficient English language skills.
  • Relevant work experience demonstrating competence in assigned responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of custodial principles and terminology.
  • Ability to operate and maintain custodial equipment and supplies.
  • Effective communication skills with diverse individuals.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Capacity to perform moderate to heavy physical labor.

Employment Benefits:

Salary: As per the Master Agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Property Services Employees.

This is an hourly position, eligible for a shift differential. Typical hours for second shift roles are from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday during the academic year.

Benefits: Eligible for benefits from the start date, with a 30-day enrollment period.

Paid Time Off: Includes sick time, personal time, holidays, and vacation as per the Master Agreement.
