The selected candidate will be tasked with creating a stimulating Learning Center atmosphere that offers a diverse array of resources and methodologies, encouraging intellectual development and assisting all students in maximizing their access to our educational assets. Responsibilities include providing professional development for staff on the integration of technology into the curriculum and designing curricular frameworks and resources to enhance this professional growth.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential Criteria:

  • Must possess or be eligible for a Vermont Educators License.
  • Endorsement as a Library Media Specialist or eligibility for a Vermont Provisional License.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Desired Attributes:

  • A strong belief that all students, irrespective of their background, can achieve high academic standards.
  • Proven experience in managing a school library or leading a school-wide literacy program.
  • Ability to engage and inspire all students, including those with disabilities and English Learners, through diverse teaching strategies.
  • Experience in providing technology training for faculty.
  • Familiarity with information literacy curriculum and its application in K-12 education.
  • Knowledge of technology tools and their integration into K-12 learning environments.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS AND BENEFITS:

  • COMPENSATION: Salary determined by the agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Burlington Education Association. This is a salaried role with bi-weekly payments and a lump sum for the summer period.
  • ACADEMIC YEAR: 10 months, 187 workdays, with a daily commitment of 7.75 hours/38.75 hours per week.
  • BENEFITS: Eligible for benefits from the start date, with a 30-day enrollment period.
  • PAID TIME OFF: Sick and personal leave as per district policy.
