Cafeteria Service Associate

Position Overview:

As a vital member of the Burlington School District's food service team, you will contribute significantly to the well-being of students by providing wholesome and appetizing meals in a friendly and secure atmosphere. Your role encompasses meal preparation, food service, maintaining hygiene standards, and delivering exceptional service to both students and faculty.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and serve meals in accordance with established school guidelines and recipes.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation in the cafeteria, kitchen, and serving areas.
  • Assist in the receipt and storage of food supplies and equipment.
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Deliver courteous and efficient service to students and staff.
  • Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Cafeteria Manager or Supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
  • Essential: Basic arithmetic skills for measuring ingredients and determining serving sizes.
  • Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in food service, ideally 2-4 years in a school cafeteria environment.
  • Preferred: ServSafe Food Handler certification or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and practices.
