Asset Management Specialist

Location: Fremont, CA, Onsite

Employment Type: Contract

The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in ServiceNow and MS Office 365, along with some Desktop Technician skills. The primary focus of this role is to maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets, including laptops, desktops, and peripherals. While technical expertise is beneficial, the emphasis is on precise inventory management.

This position requires a background in asset management, particularly for DSS technology, although direct support for user issues is not part of the responsibilities. The focus will be strictly on managing assets rather than software components.

  • Ensure accountability for assets within stockroom environments.
  • Maintain accurate IT Asset Management (ITAM) records, including states and substates.
  • Receive and log new inventory into the ITAM system.
  • Oversee the decommissioning process for retired assets.
  • Conduct regular security audits in collaboration with Physical Security teams.
  • Uphold organization and cleanliness standards within the stockroom.
  • Execute both daily and long-term operational and strategic management of hardware and software.
  • Facilitate asset discovery processes.
  • Generate reports on key metrics.
  • Manage the lifecycle of assets:
  • Track IT asset usage effectively.
  • Monitor hardware and software utilization:
  • Assess hardware and software licenses.
  • Maintain records of IT assets and their usage.
  • Track expired warranties (EOL/EOS).
  • Evaluate costs associated with maintaining IT assets.
  • Differentiate between licensed and unlicensed software.
  • Strategize, monitor, and document hardware assets and software licenses to ensure compliance with vendor contracts across various ITAM tools.
  • Adhere to a schedule for providing KPI/Metric information, along with standardized and ad-hoc reporting as required by management.
  • Engage in various projects and provide support as necessary.
  • Manage the inventory of Configuration Items (CIs) and assets, ensuring accurate recording of modifications, withdrawals, and additions.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of hardware and software models within the ITAM/CMDB, from introduction to end-of-life.
  • Supervise compliance audit activities.
  • Continuously seek process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Participate in additional IT asset management processes.
