Role Summary:

The Inventory Planning Specialist plays a crucial role in developing demand forecasts, managing inventory levels, and overseeing purchasing for designated product categories. This position involves creating safety stock and inventory policies through detailed analysis of order patterns and sales forecasts to determine optimal purchase quantities. The specialist will collaborate closely with the Sales Planning, Sourcing, and Customer Fulfillment teams to support the company's inventory objectives, ensuring alignment with turnover goals while maintaining customer service levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage inventory and safety stock policies to achieve targeted inventory levels.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting of customer demand by analyzing forecast discrepancies, order data, and retail sales trends.
  • Utilize statistical forecasting models in Logility, incorporating historical data and MAPE to optimize SKU forecasts.
  • Evaluate replenishment demands to make purchasing recommendations and facilitate inventory transfers as necessary.
  • Determine purchase quantities for all styles within the assigned categories and generate purchase orders accordingly.
  • Assess new style launch order forms to establish required inventory levels and issue purchase orders.
  • Analyze inventory reports to identify low-volume SKUs and collaborate with the sales team on exit strategies.
  • Examine current inventory levels alongside WIP and recommend expedited purchase orders when needed.
  • Master forecasting and replenishment systems (Logility, ThoughtSpot & Blue Cherry) to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Identify and consolidate obsolete SKUs with suboptimal on-hand units for sale to off-price customers.
  • Participate in SKU rationalization initiatives.
  • Engage in ad hoc inventory-related projects as required.
  • Develop reports as needed to analyze inventory levels against established goals.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Business or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Required: 2-3 years of experience in an analytical, planning, or inventory management role.
  • Preferred: Experience in corporate retail, particularly within the fashion or consumer goods sectors.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong organizational capabilities with the adaptability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Robust mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Effective time management skills with the capacity to work autonomously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in forecasting and demand planning is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Experience with supply chain planning software such as Logility or John Galt is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, and Thoughtspot is a plus.
