KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Effectively communicate with production staff and management at all levels.
- Proficient computer skills are essential for accurate data entry of inventory counts.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications is mandatory.
- Strong problem-solving skills are required.
- Request and compile a cycle count item list for inclusion in the weekly random audit for the Retail office.
- Conduct weekly inventory assessments.
- Report on physical counts, reconciliations, and manage quantities on hold due to quality issues.
- Perform daily cycle counts against recorded inventory.
- Review backlog daily to identify inventory shortages.
- Foster a collaborative relationship with the Central Receiving Manager and the Divisional Inventory Team.
- Ensure a safe and productive work environment while maintaining high morale among staff.
- Keep the DC Operations Manager or Production Manager informed of any issues that may impact production operations.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Candidates with the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Background in computer data entry.
- Familiarity with the corrugated box industry.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
- Excellent communication skills are necessary. Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales reports, operating instructions, and training manuals. Capability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL ABILITY
- Proficient in basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and calculate figures such as discounts and costs.
REASONING SKILLS
- Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
Capable of solving various problems and addressing situations with limited information or standardization.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Knowledge and skill in computer data entry applications.
- Understanding of products and production processes.
- Familiarity with quality standards and customer requirements within the Distribution Center.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly required to walk, talk, hear, stand, and sit.
VISION REQUIREMENTS
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are essential.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment can be high.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
- The performance of the Inventory Control Specialist will be assessed based on:
- Meeting or exceeding the operating standards established for the Distribution Center, communicated annually.
- Personal development goals set annually in collaboration with management.
- Creativity in contributing innovative ideas to enhance business operations.
