Job Overview

SCOPE Recruiting is partnering with a client to identify a seasoned Strategic Sourcing & Category Manager.

This position is pivotal in formulating and executing sourcing and procurement strategies aimed at enhancing quality, reducing costs, and ensuring timely delivery to facilitate the successful deployment and operation of proprietary elevator systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive and refine sourcing, category, and procurement strategies for mechanical and electrical categories, emphasizing cost efficiency, timely delivery, quality enhancements, supplier performance, and consolidation to bolster manufacturing and operational activities.
  • Analyze total expenditure, pricing frameworks, commercial agreements, and trends related to raw materials, finished goods, and manufactured assemblies, possessing a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics and supply chain intricacies in the electronics sector.
  • Craft strategic roadmaps for electrical and mechanical categories, pinpointing and nurturing new supplier relationships to unlock potential savings and foster new product development opportunities.
  • Examine electrical and mechanical assembly BOMs, technical schematics, and engineering specifications to guide sourcing decisions and provide insights on manufacturing readiness.
  • Devise risk management strategies to tackle ongoing supply challenges within the electronic supply chain landscape.
  • Oversee Purchase Price Variance (PPV) containment and avoidance strategies to mitigate adverse impacts on profit and loss while ensuring material availability for production operations.
  • Evaluate overall supplier performance within designated categories and implement corrective measures and recovery plans as necessary, in collaboration with Supplier Quality and Engineering teams.
  • Lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) initiatives for electrical and mechanical categories, managing current year savings and developing multi-year savings strategies.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Product Line Management, Project Management, Field Operations, and Finance teams.
  • Conduct and evaluate RFQs/RFPs/RFIs, spearhead negotiations, assess suppliers, and select suppliers for electrical and electronics categories.
  • Support End of Life products and various workstreams by formulating and executing strategies to maintain operations and revenue targets.
  • Establish performance management processes, including KPIs, metrics, and dashboards, to ensure supplier performance and achievement of critical initiatives.
  • Provide robust technical guidance within electrical categories, steering product strategy throughout the product development and manufacturing lifecycles.

Candidate Profile:

Education & Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration is essential; a Master's/MBA is advantageous.
  • Over 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, and relevant category management within Electrical or Mechanical sectors.
  • Certifications in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or PMP are preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of purchasing policies, procedures, practices, and the value of procure-to-pay (P2P) digital platforms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio), SAP, Oracle, and/or Ariba.
  • Deep knowledge of strategic sourcing and procurement methodologies.
  • Advanced understanding of electronics supply landscapes, manufacturing processes, and product lifecycles.
  • Ability to interpret ambiguous data and convert it into clear analytical and decision-making tools.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience in PCBAs, Semiconductors, Power Electronics, or related technologies.
  • Experience in managing component demand-supply cycles and collaborating with suppliers to ensure alignment in fluctuating environments.
  • Expertise in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis to facilitate data-driven component and supplier selection in a product-centric ecosystem.
  • Capability to engage and negotiate with key suppliers and internal stakeholders on critical contracts and services in complex and dynamic settings.
  • Experience with ERP systems, Spend Data Analytics & Reporting, eSourcing, and contract management systems.
  • Proven track record in identifying and developing business cases for year-over-year cost reduction initiatives through should costing, process enhancements, and innovative strategies.
  • Advocacy for the Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) function within the organization to align with core business objectives.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration abilities to cultivate and sustain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to confidently present intricate information to senior executives.
