SCOPE Recruiting is collaborating with a client to identify a seasoned Strategic Sourcing & Category Manager.

This position is pivotal in crafting and executing sourcing and procurement strategies that emphasize quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery, essential for the successful deployment and functioning of proprietary elevator systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement sourcing, category, and procurement strategies for mechanical and electrical components, prioritizing cost efficiency, timely delivery, quality enhancement, supplier performance, and consolidation to bolster manufacturing and operational activities.
  • Analyze total expenditure, pricing frameworks, commercial conditions, and trends for raw materials and finished goods, possessing a profound understanding of market dynamics and supply chain intricacies in the electronics sector.
  • Create strategic plans for electrical and mechanical categories, identifying and nurturing new supplier relationships to unlock potential savings and product development avenues.
  • Examine electrical and mechanical assembly BOMs, technical schematics, and engineering specifications to guide sourcing decisions and provide insights on manufacturing readiness.
  • Formulate risk management strategies to mitigate ongoing supply challenges within the electronics supply chain.
  • Oversee Purchase Price Variance (PPV) management and avoidance strategies to minimize adverse impacts on profit and loss while ensuring material availability for production.
  • Evaluate supplier performance within designated categories and initiate corrective measures and recovery plans as necessary, in partnership with Supplier Quality and Engineering teams.
  • Direct Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) initiatives for electrical and mechanical categories, managing current year savings and developing multi-year savings strategies.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Product Line Management, Project Management, Field Operations, and Finance teams.
  • Conduct and evaluate RFQs/RFPs/RFIs, lead negotiations, assess suppliers, and select vendors for electrical and electronics categories.
  • Support End of Life products and various workstreams by devising and executing strategies to maintain operations and meet revenue expectations.
  • Establish performance management frameworks, including KPIs, metrics, and dashboards, to ensure supplier performance aligns with key initiatives.
  • Provide robust technical guidance within electrical categories, steering product strategy throughout the development and manufacturing lifecycles.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration is required; a Master's/MBA is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, and relevant category management in Electrical or Mechanical fields.
  • Certifications in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or PMP are advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of purchasing policies, procedures, and the effective use of procure-to-pay (P2P) digital platforms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio), SAP, Oracle, and/or Ariba.
  • Comprehensive understanding of strategic sourcing and procurement methodologies.
  • Advanced familiarity with electronics supply landscapes, manufacturing processes, and product lifecycles.
  • Ability to interpret ambiguous data and convert it into clear analytical and decision-making tools.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience in PCBAs, Semiconductors, Power Electronics, or related technologies.
  • Experience in managing component demand-supply cycles and collaborating with suppliers to ensure alignment in fluctuating environments.
  • Expertise in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis to facilitate data-driven component and supplier selection.
  • Capability to engage and negotiate with key suppliers and internal stakeholders on critical contracts and services in complex settings.
  • Experience with ERP systems, Spend Data Analytics & Reporting, eSourcing, and contract management systems.
  • Proven track record in identifying and developing business cases for continuous cost reduction through innovative strategies.
  • Advocacy for the Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) function within the organization to align with core business objectives.
  • Strong leadership and collaborative skills to cultivate and sustain trusted relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
