Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY
This role is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of a new manufacturing facility. The Project Engineer will play a crucial role in managing facilities, maintenance services, and engineering functions. This position requires strong technical expertise and leadership capabilities to ensure the effective implementation of engineering practices and optimal utilization of resources.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate and manage the activities of a skilled workforce, focusing on maximizing operational efficiency and effective project management.
  2. Drive a proactive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiative, aiming for maximum equipment availability.
  3. Implement and oversee safety programs in compliance with industry standards, including OSHA, DEP, and NFPA, ensuring the design and execution of safety protocols.
  4. Lead a cross-functional team to achieve organizational objectives efficiently, including recruitment, performance evaluation, and staff development.
  5. Monitor project timelines and budgets, collaborating with project engineers to ensure adherence to established schedules and financial constraints.
  6. Work closely with executive leadership to define and achieve both short-term and long-term operational goals.
  7. Engage with external vendors and contractors to facilitate equipment procurement and maintenance.
  8. Track and report on performance metrics for designated areas, ensuring departmental objectives are met.
  9. Ensure all personnel are adequately trained and adhere to established procedures and guidelines.
  10. Contribute to the design and development of the new manufacturing site while collaborating with IT leadership and logistics teams.
  11. Willingness to travel as required for project oversight.
  12. Perform additional duties as necessary.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of achieving results through team collaboration.
  • Strong proactive approach and ability to foster team dynamics.
  • Capability to balance safety, quality, productivity, cost management, and employee relations effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with automation and innovative practices in manufacturing processes.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering; a master's degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of ten years in progressively responsible technical supervisory roles.
  • Expertise in Structured Problem Analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing capital projects.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DEP, and NFPA safety regulations.
  • Strong verbal, written, technical, conceptual, and financial communication skills.
  • Ability to function effectively as both a team member and a team leader.
  • Robust project management skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, Project, and project management tools such as GANTT, PERT, and CPM charts.
  • Understanding of manufacturing maintenance operations management.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Solid grasp of planning and scheduling methodologies.
  • Strong commitment to driving projects to successful completion.
  • Knowledge of CAD, CAE, CAM engineering tools, and Great Plains software is essential.
