Job Summary

The NCAA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marketing and Promotions Director to join our team. As the Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Promotions, you will be responsible for driving revenue and attendance at athletic events through fan engagement initiatives, promotional campaigns, and ticket sales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Marketing Strategies
    • Design and conduct advertising campaigns to promote NCAA athletics and brand.
    • Select and implement programs for NCAA billboards, newspaper advertising, street pole banners, magnets, posters, van banners, television ads, radio spots, and other miscellaneous advertising.
    • Coordinate all social and electronic media, direct mail, trade, email campaigns, and non-profit advertising for all sports.
    • Coordinate the design for the artwork and financial aspects of the advertising program.
    • Manage the budget for all advertising and promotion initiatives.
    • Collaborate with the University Marketing & Communications department and direct branding standards for athletics and campus-wide partnerships.
  • Develop and Implement Season Ticket Sales Campaigns
    • Develop and implement a timetable and materials for email campaigns.
    • Develop a volunteer season ticket sales force to assist with sales.
    • Solicit group tickets.
    • Manage ticket sales campaigns.
    • Solicit advertising sales.
    • Solicit companies for advertising for television, website, and other media inventory.
    • Engage community outreach with large groups to strategically develop support for athletic events.
  • Manage Sponsor Fulfillment and Sponsor Package Development
    • Fulfill sponsor obligations and activations.
    • Track and maintain records on all sponsors.
    • Implement all benefits packages, including ticket programs, parking passes, signage, special events, and all other promotional exposure programs.
    • Design and produce all signage, advertising, and game programs ads.
    • Coordinate all public address systems, message board, and video board announcements.
    • Provide sponsor recognition.
  • Manage Web, Television, Podcast, and Other Media Partnerships
    • Implement digital ad campaigns to enhance the visibility and marketability of the athletics program.
    • Identify, create, and develop other media partnerships to enhance the visibility and marketability of the athletics program.
    • Coordinate with the Director of Strategic Communications on all funding, sponsorship, marketing, and administrative issues related to the athletic website and any web broadcasting, radio, video, and television activities.
  • Supervise the Assistant Director of Marketing
    • Recruit, interview, select, and hire interns, casual workers, and student workers.
    • Assign and delegate duties to interns, casual workers, and student workers.
    • Oversee all activities and projects of the Spirit Teams, Pep Band, Bull Pit, interns, casual workers, and student workers.
    • Train workers to be game management assistants and supervise them at games.
    • Evaluate interns each semester for grades and feedback.
  • Coordinate Merchandising and Licensing
    • Work with the NCAA Torero Store to ensure game-day merchandising is available, coordinated, and organized.
    • Work with licensing vendors to ensure proper procedures are followed by all licensees.
    • Approve all logo/designs from licenses.
    • Handle all additional licensing questions, royalty fees, and miscellaneous licensing duties.
    • Coordinate sales and revenues of NCAA merchandise with the NCAA Torero Store on the website; work with the site vendor to set up and update the site with correct logos and merchandise.
    • Coordinate the purchase of Nike apparel for promotional initiatives and game-day activations.
  • Provide Support to Athletic Department Special Events
    • Assist the Development team with fundraising events.
    • Work with campus-wide partners to develop and execute Athletics events to promote programs.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, or public relations.
  • Experience
    • Three years of experience in marketing and promotions and/or related field required.
  • Skills
    • Team-oriented individual with willingness to take initiative and desire to work in collegiate athletics.
  • Certifications
    • Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required within six weeks of employment.
    • California driver's license required within six weeks of employment.
