About The Role:

We are on the lookout for a Summer Camp Leadership Development Specialist who is committed to training and empowering camp leaders and educators. In this capacity, you will mentor and develop a team of over 200 camp leaders and counselors, shaping the educational experiences of more than 4,000 campers this summer. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in training, coaching, and managing educational teams, showcasing a proven track record of enhancing staff performance and fostering significant growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Staff Development and Support: Observe, train, and coach campsite leaders and educators to improve their performance and foster a positive, supportive learning environment. This includes analyzing feedback to establish specific coaching goals, continuously assessing staff performance, and delivering constructive feedback to refine teaching strategies and enhance camp experiences.
  • Strategic Coaching and Collaboration: Mentor campsite leaders on effective coaching techniques, promoting a collaborative effort with Site Directors to develop and nurture educational staff.
  • Quality Assurance and Protocol Compliance: Ensure all camp protocols are accurately implemented, maintaining and exceeding NORY standards to guarantee the quality of the camp experience.
  • Behavior and Special Needs Support: Provide guidance on effective behavior management and communication with parents when necessary.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Actively engage with headquarters teams—including curriculum, operations, and customer happiness—to enhance support systems for campsite staff.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in educational leadership, particularly in managing and training teaching staff (5+ years).
  • Demonstrated ability to implement effective teaching strategies and improve educational outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with educators, parents, and staff.
  • Knowledgeable in child development and experienced in adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
