About the Role:

The Senior Hardware Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support to various stages of development in the Validation department. The Specialist must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision to maintain project schedules and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on building, testing, upgrading, and repairing of enterprise hardware and software (servers, peripherals, programs, and firmware)
  • Perform lab management responsibilities including but not limited to maintaining an efficient lab environment
  • Manage inventory including but not limited to tracking, shipping, and receiving materials
  • Work with engineers in the evaluation of new electronic components, as well as troubleshooting new servers
  • Conduct manual validation tests in a controlled environment
  • Execute soft tools (e.g. diagnostics, tests, firmware updates)
  • Read, modify, and create basic automation scripts (Python, PowerShell)
  • Communicate status updates and issues clearly and concisely from a technical perspective
  • Additional tasks deemed necessary to the continuity of business operations

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or Associate degree in Electronics, Certificate of Completion of Technical School, or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 2+ years of troubleshooting, tech support, test execution, IT experience, or relevant experience (5+ years is preferred)
  • Experience within a computer hardware and/or lab environment
  • Python/PowerShell Scripting experience
  • Working knowledge of troubleshooting of issues
  • Rack-level experience including cabling and power supplies
  • Enterprise data center networking experience

  • Fundamental understanding of computer architecture and components (CPU, power supply, memory, storage devices, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of server, rack, and blade environments
  • Ability to use custom Linux and Windows-based diagnostic programs
  • Ability to benchmark hardware performance
  • Working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot the server architecture
  • Ability to diagnose the root cause of computer system failure and isolate the components/failure nodes
  • Understanding of hardware and software interactions; able to apply this understanding to resolve issues
  • Provide timely and detailed feedback to Engineering teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at a technical level
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people at various levels in the organization

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary
  • The ability to safely climb ladders when necessary
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly when necessary
  • The ability to stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods without loss or reduction of productivity
  • The ability to (i) use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls, (ii) make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls, (iii) bend or twist their body, and (iv) repeat movements for extended periods without loss or reduction of productivity
