District Overview

Kiewit's Central District is a leading infrastructure division, focusing on heavy civil, structural concrete, water/wastewater, and transportation initiatives.

We perform various tasks such as mass grading, drainage, and paving, so be prepared to get involved in the field work. We seek individuals who are passionate about the construction sector rather than design.


Location

While our headquarters are in Denver, Colorado, our projects extend across a wide geographical area, primarily in Colorado, Tennessee, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Montana.

We also collaborate with other districts that operate in nearby states.

Our assignments may take you to both urban and rural settings, so flexibility in travel and relocation is essential.


Key Responsibilities
  • Work within a specific discipline on larger projects or lead smaller projects, overseeing various job functions.
  • Review project proposals, specifications, and drawings; conduct material takeoffs; prepare cost estimates; and participate in pre-bid meetings.
  • Supervise subcontractors and liaise with vendors.
  • Develop work plans, ensure quality control, manage costs and materials, schedule equipment, implement safety programs, and maintain excellent relationships with clients.
  • Keep accurate records regarding project progress, costs, and material usage.
  • Plan and schedule project activities.
  • Investigate issues and incidents, providing solutions as necessary.
  • Assess plans and specifications to determine material needs and pricing.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to facilitate material handling and delivery.

Qualifications
  • Willingness to travel and relocate as required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a construction-related engineering field.
  • Leadership experience in some capacity is preferred.
  • Experience in infrastructure or heavy civil projects is advantageous.
  • Ability to navigate all areas of a construction site in various climates.
  • Highly motivated with a strong commitment to excellence and initiative.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and commitment to doing the job right the first time.
  • Commitment to safety and the ability to promote a safe work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently to meet objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Previous internship experience is a plus.
  • Must be eligible to work without requiring sponsorship.

Compensation
Base compensation ranges from $81,000 to $86,000, subject to variations based on education, experience, skills, and location.
