DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Heart Institute at the University of Washington Medical Center provides a comprehensive array of cardiovascular healthcare and preventive services.
Our offerings encompass general cardiology, advanced diagnostic imaging, surgical interventions, arrhythmia management, interventional cardiology, structural heart services, advanced heart failure care, heart transplantation, and other specialized services.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assess and prioritize incoming referrals from various sources, utilizing knowledge of each physician's expertise
  • Direct incoming referrals to ensure appropriate specialists are assigned
  • Manage the intake of referral requests, ensuring all necessary information is collected and entered into the electronic medical record system promptly
  • Schedule initial patient consultations, either in-person or via telehealth, based on provider and patient preferences
  • Coordinate patient appointments at the correct facility and assist with insurance verification or financial aid
  • Handle a high volume of phone inquiries and messages effectively
  • Review follow-up requirements with patients to ensure clarity on appointment purposes and recommendations
  • Provide financial assistance options to patients in need and guide them through the application process for financial counseling
  • Act as a primary contact for other departments, patients, and external providers
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND two years of experience in the relevant program area
  • Three years of experience in Patient Support Services OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
