Transportation Systems Technical Writer

to contribute to the advancement of transportation solutions. This role is integral to our efforts at the forefront of research and development in intelligent transportation systems and automated vehicle technologies.

About the Position:
As a Transportation Systems Technical Writer, you will collaborate with a dedicated team focused on creating impactful marketing, communication, and training materials that highlight the latest advancements in transportation technologies. Your work will support initiatives that enhance the efforts of various governmental and industry organizations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct interviews with subject matter experts and analyze field tests to gather critical information on transportation systems and technologies.
  • Edit and produce comprehensive technical documents, including reports and articles, ensuring clarity and accessibility for diverse audiences.
  • Structure complex information logically to effectively communicate technical findings and policy recommendations.
  • Manage documentation projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and external stakeholders to ensure documentation meets project requirements.
  • Create and refine a variety of technical materials, including fact sheets, presentations, and multimedia content.
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to organizational standards and accessibility requirements.
  • Estimate project costs and timelines, recommending best practices for technical writing processes.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field, with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with less experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
  • A digital portfolio showcasing your technical and creative writing capabilities.
  • Experience in producing and overseeing technical documentation and multimedia products.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to varied audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience in the transportation sector or related technologies.
  • Project management skills with a solid understanding of methodologies.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards for documentation.
