Clinical Research Scientist II

Position Overview

The University of New Mexico is seeking a dedicated and meticulous individual to join our esteemed Division of Nephrology as a Clinical Research Scientist II. This full-time role is pivotal in advancing our research initiatives within the Department of Internal Medicine.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Facilitate the informed consent process for participants, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and protocols.
2. Schedule necessary appointments in accordance with research protocols and meticulously document participant responses, side effects, and medication usage.
3. Provide essential support in managing financial aspects related to grants and research projects.
4. Oversee various research initiatives, including the preparation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, data management (collection, entry, and analysis), while adhering to all relevant regulations governing research with human subjects.
5. Monitor the progression of research activities, maintaining comprehensive records and generating reports as required by stakeholders.
6. Coordinate daily operations of technical support staff engaged in research activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
7. Engage in the recruitment, enrollment, and scheduling of research participants, while developing robust record-keeping systems.
8. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the research mission.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment physical examination and medical history review.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one year of relevant experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Extensive laboratory experience.
  2. Proven ability to manage multiple research projects, including IRB submissions and data management.
  3. Experience in participant consent processes and documentation.
  4. Capability to provide financial oversight for research grants.
  5. Flexibility in working hours as dictated by research needs.
  6. Willingness to travel as necessary for research purposes.
