Position Overview:
The Mind Research Network is seeking a dedicated Associate Research Scientist to contribute to the management of preclinical investigations in the realm of drug development. This role is pivotal as it serves as the primary point of oversight, ensuring that all research activities are conducted in compliance with the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of the Director, execute contractual studies or research that encompass a broad spectrum of methodologies.
- Engage in research focused on medical countermeasures, particularly in areas such as radiation or infectious diseases.
- Plan, conduct, and supervise scientific research that necessitates both fundamental and advanced knowledge in toxicology, biology, and infectious diseases.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Toxicology, Biology, Virology, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, or a closely related discipline, along with a minimum of two years of relevant research experience. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Essential Skills:
- Proven ability to manage fundamental scientific tasks with a history of published or presented original research.
- Research experience in a specific scientific discipline is essential.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a high degree of professionalism and problem-solving capabilities.
- Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple complex tasks and projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining confidentiality.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly advanced knowledge of Excel, and the ability to learn department-specific software as required.
Work Environment:
This position involves working within an ABSL3 facility, necessitating vaccinations/immunizations. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain Select Agent clearance. A post-offer physical examination and background check will be conducted.
Physical Requirements:
Work is conducted in a laboratory setting, where standard laboratory equipment is utilized. The role may require standing, walking, sitting, and performing laboratory techniques that involve dexterity and repetitive motions. Occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds may be necessary. Personal protective equipment, including a respirator, will be required, and there may be exposure to research animals and hazardous materials.
