We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Panthalassa, a pioneering company harnessing the power of the open ocean to generate clean energy. As a Mechanical Engineer - Node Manufacturing Specialist, you will play a critical role in the development of our next-generation node fleets.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with our node design team to develop manufacturing strategies and processes for high-volume production.
- Work closely with local fabrication partners to understand existing processes, equipment, and techniques, and apply this knowledge to inform our manufacturing strategy.
- Characterize processes to inform specification development, design best practices, cost structures, and future manufacturing site requirements.
- Support the development of bespoke manufacturing processes and equipment as needed, including opportunities for detailed machine design.
- Contribute to the design and development of the node pilot line.
- Contribute to building out the strategy for future high-volume manufacturing systems and processes.
- Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to the node design team.
- Contribute to node design as it pertains to successful high-volume manufacturing.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a hands-on mechanical/manufacturing/design engineer working on mechanical and/or electromechanical systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, solid mechanics, material selection, prototyping, testing methods, and fabrication processes.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred), drafting (GD&T fundamentals), and PLM (Team Center).
- Self-starter with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Collaborative team player with ability to work cross-functionally.
- Ability to identify issues and develop corrective measures to resolve.
- Tendency to remain engaged, initiative-taking, and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for their success.
- Ability to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
- Preferred experience developing high-volume equipment in automotive, roll-to-roll, oil & gas, wind turbine monopile, process industries, or equivalent.
- Experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, fluid systems, heavy steel manufacturing, welding, or metal forming (press brake and plate rolls).
- Cash compensation of $85,000 - $150,000.
- Equity in the company.
