About the Role

The University of Nebraska is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Instructional Specialist to join its University Libraries team. As an Instructional Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of library research and information literacy skills to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with library faculty to design and deliver teaching sessions, workshops, and online resources to support student learning.
  • Develop and implement instructional materials and strategies to promote information literacy and critical thinking skills.
  • Work with faculty and staff to integrate library resources and services into academic courses and programs.
  • Contribute to the development of library policies and procedures related to instructional services.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in instructional design and delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and at least two years of teaching experience or related experience required.
  • Computer experience and knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with UNL administrators, faculty, staff, students, and community users.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree and teaching experience with adult learners, and knowledge or experience with library reference and instruction.
  • Knowledge of information literacy pedagogy and theories, student learning outcomes, and basic assessment techniques.
  • Familiarity with LibGuides, Canvas, and accessibility for websites.
  • Experience writing content for the web and knowledge of instructional design for online classes.
