Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Support Staff Assistant to join our team at Tri County Public Schools. As a Support Staff Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of instruction in elementary and/or secondary classrooms and maintaining a safe and orderly atmosphere in our schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Classroom Teachers: Provide support to classroom teachers with student learning groups and activities, including homework help, leading small group practice or instruction activities, and organizing classroom spaces/displays.
  • Supervise Students: Assist in supervising students in multiple areas of the school setting, including classrooms, playgrounds, cafeterias, hallways, and student drop-off/pick-up locations.
  • Maintain a Safe and Orderly Atmosphere: Assist in ensuring a safe and orderly atmosphere throughout the school, including reporting incidents, safety concerns, injuries, or other issues involving students to teachers, principals, nurses, and security personnel as needed.
  • Confidentiality and Professional Development: Maintain confidentiality of information and engage in professional development activities as needed or assigned.
Requirements
  • Effective Communication and Organizational Skills: Possess effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as effective organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to Work Under Pressure: Ability to maintain composure and perform responsibilities under pressure.
  • Cooperative Working Relationships: Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others, both adults and children, contacted in the course of work.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality about students in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and district guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Certification/License: Possess a Motor Vehicle Operator's (DMV) License or ability to provide own transportation. Post-secondary coursework or certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience: Successful prior experience working with children, preferably in a school district or related setting.
